Minffordd cottage and alpacas is well established and welcomes old and new friends at any time.  The cottage has seen many New Zealand and international visitors, several of whom return again and again.

We have continued to breed to improve the fleece of our alpacas and now contribute to a national pool of owners where fleeces are sold according to colour and fineness to international markets.   We also have local buyers for coloured fleeces.  After a couple of years of reduced breeding we have had 6 cria this year, 3 female and 3 male go to the alpaca section to see some photos.

Like everyone, we are coping with the drought conditions and keen not to lose any pregnancies.  We have bought in some Lucerne hay, which is not cheap, but is a treat twice a week, much enjoyed by all the alpacas, otherwise we are feeding out a bale of hay a day.

We have discontinued selling products as we do not have the time, but we can often point people in the direction of one of the many people making wonderful products from alpaca in New Zealand.
